My hometown’s annual Oktoberfest street fair includes a car show, and it’s been a fun tradition for me since childhood. Now I get to share it with my kids, which I just love. Here’s a few of my favorites.

I took that picture for you. The car was seriously perfect. Not even a scratch in the load area, and the paint was ridiculous.

So you bought Jarod’s Lincoln... I saw his goodbye post and wondered if you picked it up. Excellent...

If my Ranchero weren’t missing its grill when I got it, I’d likely have gone back with ‘63. It’s a really good look. That being said, since I was going full retard with some other things, and I really liked the comparatively cheap ‘60 grill...

Also, the ‘38 barrelnose/horsecollar Ford later in your post is also my fetish.

Regarding the Lincoln, it has no rockers. That is not an exaggeration. It has rock guards and sill guards that best I can calculate are screwed to the air . Okay, so it basically has a top web and maybe an inch on either side sticking down, and a void with some random rust flakes and steel cardboard in it. Fortunately, the tunnel is apparently STRONG LIKE BULL (3/4 doors open just fine), and the floor is pretty recoverable, so I’m going to buy a big sheet of 14GA galv and brake bend it into a set of 8’ long square “U”s here at work, then take them back to the shop and cut and weld. The original rockers were, in fact, just like that other than quantity of zinc, so my unfrozen caveman technology fix will look factory and should take like a day and a half. Then I just have bedragglement, broken windows, fender/hood/door edge rust, and some floor patches to deal with. Probably.

Still, you can see why people were scared off a couple times. Not everybody has the access to Xty ton box brakes and lifts/jacks this is going to need.

I haven’t actually picked it up yet, since my journey was an exploration first that also planned to do other things (didn’t work out). I’m not sure yet which of several recovery devices I’m going to employ - if I use my dad’s twin-axle I have to re-tire it for that kind of distance. The Linc would clear the trailer, but with just under an inch clear each side.

Ah, the old FoMoCo Aircscrews... I have some of those in my Fairlane, doing an admirable job holding it together. If ever a person was suited to a project, you are to that Lincoln.

Yeah, that ‘38 Ford truck is one of my local favorites, it comes out all the time. That and the 308 next to each other were a legitimate crisis for me.
